Common use

Assurans is used to treat impotence or Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in males. This medication is designed to help males to recover the ability to get and maintain hard erections. Sildenafil Citrate is the active ingredient of the Assurans. Assurans may be used to treat other medical conditions such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Dosage and direction

Usually, the daily recommended dose is one tablet or as directed by your doctor. The effect lasts for roughly 4-6 hours. It depends on your habits, lifestyle, meals, and other factors. Take the tablet by mouth with a glass of water. It is not allowed while swallowing to break, crush, or chew the tablet because it can reduce its effectiveness. In addition, you should not use other beverages to take the pill such as grapefruit juice, soda, and alcoholic drinks.

Precautions

Using Assurans may result in dizziness and blurred vision. Hence, it's recommended to operate vehicles or machinery only when fully alert.
Caution is advised if you have to undergo surgery, or dental treatment.

Contraindications

It is not recommended to take Assurans if you experience the following disease: Coronary arterial disease and cardiac failure; HIV/AIDS; Cardiovascular problems (general ventricular outflow obstruction, aortic stenosis, and others); Priapism; Retinitis pigmentosa (genetic disease of the retina); If you suffered from a heart attack (myocardial infarction), arrhythmia, or stroke in the last 6 months; Bleeding problems; Kidney problems; Liver problems; Stomach ulcers; Organ donor recipient; High blood pressure (hypertension); Low blood pressure (hypotension); Serious blood cell problems such as multiple myeloma, sickle cell anemia, leukemia, and others. Your physician will assess your medical conditions and will prescribe medication that is right for you.
Assurans is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Sildenafil.

Possible side effect

Assurans like other medications may give you certain adverse effects. Usually, patients ignore the following side effects. Dehydration is one reason that can cause mild side effects. You need to increase your water intake to diminish this problem. For example: Muscle pain; Headaches; Back pain; Nausea; Flushes; Rashes; Dizziness; Diarrhea; Nasal congestion; Blurred vision.
Rarely, you may experience severe adverse effects. If you notice any of the following adverse effects, you should stop the treatment and ask for medical help immediately: Chest pain (angina); Dizziness during sex; Priapism (erection lasts longer than 4 hours); Loss of vision in one or both eyes also called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION); Sudden decrease or even a loss of hearing.

Drug interaction

There are some substances and drugs that may interact with Assurans. Other medications may affect how Sildenafil Citrate works as well as increase the risk for side effects. For example: Antacids; Amyl nitrate; HIV protease inhibitors; Nitrate drugs such as nitroglycerin; Certain antibiotics, antifungal, and antiviral medications; Guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat; Hypertension medications; Organ donor-recipient medicines; Nitroprusside medications; ED drugs that contain other active ingredients such as Vardenafil, Avanafil, Udenafil, Tadalafil, and Dapoxetine; Alpha-blockers such as Alfuzosin (medicines used in treating hypertension and in some cases, prostate problems).

Missed dose

If you forget and miss a dose, just skip the dose and continue the treatment with the next scheduled dose. Do not take two doses at the same time to catch up.

Overdose

If you change the dosage in the doctor’s prescription, you may notice less effectiveness or even experience an overdose. If you notice any of the following symptoms, you should stop taking Assurans and consult a doctor right away: Breathing problems; Passing out; Severe dizziness.

Storage

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep away from children and pets.
